UGC issues guidelines to colleges for Independence Day Hoist Flags

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Independence Day celebrations in all educational institutions. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has mentioned in an official notification addressed to all the principals and heads of educational institutions that the flat hosting will be conducted at 9 am in all the institutes.

The MoD, in its first directive, said that the Independence Day celebrations/unfurling of the national flag in all educational institutions should begin after 9 am. The next instruction suggests conducting the flag hoisting program in virtual or physical format depending on the COVID-19 situation. The Ministry of Defense encouraged all school students, teachers and staff as well as parents/guardians to participate.

“As the country celebrates the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, each school has been asked to create a craft project to honor the 75th anniversary of Independence Day and prominent freedom fighters in their regions.

Emphasizing on the concept of “Waste to Best” and “Waste to Wealth” in the SOP, some welt material should be included in the project.

Apart from this, the Ministry of Defense has started MyGov Quiz on the occasion of Independence Day 2022 celebrations. In which the candidate will have to answer a maximum of 20 questions in 5 minutes. The candidates who have given maximum number of answers in the shortest time will be shortlisted in the list of winners. Cash prizes will be awarded to the 10 winners.

3rd prize Rs 10,000
Consolation prize (to seven candidates) Rs.5,000 (each)

Meanwhile, all educational institutions have been asked to encourage students to put up the national flag on their roofs under the theme “Har Ghar Jhanda” in honor of our freedom fighters.
