UGC publishes a list of ‘false’ universities: Ahead of the new academic year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has published its annual list of “fake” universities. This list consists of 20 institutions without the authority to confer degrees. Eight of these institutions are located in Delhi, making it the city with the largest number.
According to UGC Secretary Manish Joshi, these institutions have offered degrees in violation of the UGC Act’s provisions. As a result, degrees from these universities will not be recognized or considered valid for purposes of further education or employment.
UGC to bring out 1,500 more textbooks in local languages
All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences, Commercial University Ltd in Daryaganj, United Nations University, Vocational University, ADR-Centric Juridical University, Indian Institution of Science and Engineering, Viswakarma Open University for Self-Employment, and Adhyatmik Vishwabharati (Spiritual University) are the eight “fake” universities in Delhi.

Four universities, including Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith, National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open University), and Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad, have been deemed “fake.”
