University Of Amsterdam Institutes Announce Future Heritage Research Residency For Dutch Artists

University Of Amsterdam Institutes: The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the Allard Pierson (AP) are pleased to announce the Future Heritage Research Residency, inviting Dutch-based artists and artist collectives to participate in a transformative collaboration. This exceptional opportunity allows artists to collaborate with researchers, curators, and other artists for up to six months, with a concentration on the upcoming Allard Pierson exhibition “Nature under Pressure,” opening in April 2024.

The Future Heritage Research Residency encourages artists to draw inspiration from the vast AP collections and engage with the theme of the exhibition, “Nature under Pressure.” Socially conscious and politically engaged artists are especially encouraged to apply, as their contributions to thought-provoking conversations and innovative approaches to heritage and current research will be invaluable.

Selected artists will have access to AP collections, reading chambers, and IAS office space. The collaboration provides researchers with networking opportunities and organisational support for activities. Artists will collaborate closely with the AP curatorial staff to produce inventive and impactful works.

Through this dynamic residency, IAS and the Allard Pierson hope to nurture meaningful interactions between art, research, and heritage, thereby stimulating new perspectives and enhancing public participation.

The application deadline for the Future Heritage Research Residency is October 1, 2023. Refer to the call for applications and more information about the residency.
