US offers Indian students unique one-year master’s programme: The State Department of the United States (US) has introduced a new programme that aligns with India’s New Education Policy (NEP). This programme allows Indian students to pursue a one-year master’s degree in a specialised field at American universities. This action seeks to strengthen ties between the United States and India and promote the growth of education collaboration.

The programme was designed for the mutual advantage of both nations and offers Indian students invaluable opportunities.

The programme provides specialised instruction in areas such as wireless technology, artificial intelligence, and cyber security. This programme, unlike traditional two-year master’s degrees, condenses the curriculum into a single year, allowing students to transition swiftly into industry roles. Additionally, students may remain in the United States for three years to acquire work experience and repay student loans.

Collaboration with universities is an integral element of this programme. Indian and American universities collaborate to enhance Indian university courses and equip students with necessary skills before they pursue master’s degrees in the United States. This partnership guarantees that students are adequately prepared for their studies.

Lee Satterfield, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), is scheduled to travel to India from August 22 to August 27. Her visit coincides with the G20 Culture Ministerial and seeks to discuss bilateral matters with her Indian counterparts. This trip follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official state visit to the United States in June and precedes the early September G20 Leaders’ Summit.
