Vice Army Chief Calls on Industries to Foster Indigenous Solutions for Army Modernization: Friday in Pune, Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar urged defence industries and research institutes to develop more indigenous solutions for the modernization of the Indian Army.
According to the sources, the general officer visited several defence industries and research laboratories in Pune, including the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

During his visit, he was briefed on ongoing initiatives pertaining to defence. The general officer praised the efforts of various parties and urged them to develop more indigenous solutions for the modernization of the Indian Army, according to the sources.
Additionally, the vice army chief visited the Armament Research and Development Organisation (ARDE) laboratory.
“He was briefed on the indigenously developed Laser-Guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), which was successfully test-fired last year from the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun. Chief also collaborated with senior DRDO scientists on crucial ARDE initiatives, according to a senior DRDO official who requested anonymity.
He also spoke with Lieutenant General AK Singh, commander of the Southern Army, at the Southern Command Headquarters. According to army sources, they discussed contemporary issues regarding the transformation of the armed forces and self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector.
On March 1, the general officer assumed the position of VCOAS.
