Workshop on ‘Professional Development and Social Entrepreneurship’ in AMU

She urged students to think about making useful contributions and called them to join LedBy programs to hone professional skills.

Dr Ruha Shadab, Founder CEO, LedBy Foundation, discussed complex social challenges and how social entrepreneurs can help fill leadership gaps to help people develop skills and dispositions necessary in the increasingly diverse and interdependent world.

She was speaking as the resource person of the Workshop on ‘Professional Development and Social Entrepreneurship’ at the Frank and Debbie Islam Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre (FDIEIC), Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). FDIEIC organised the programme in collaboration with the LedBy Foundation.

Dr Ruha shared anecdotes of her journey as a social entrepreneur and how her Harvard University education and a wealth of experience gained at the NITI Ayog, the Clinton Health Initiative and the Gates Foundation endowed her with the tools to spearhead social entrepreneurship.

She urged students to think about making useful contributions and called them to join LedBy programs to hone professional skills.

“With the help of professional training and mentorship, women of deprived sections can become the next generation female change-makers”, Dr Ruha stressed.

Dr Ahmad Faraz Khan summarized the key points from the session and pressed for figuring out problem statements early and clearly.

He urged students attending the workshop to find their strength areas with advice from mentors.

In the welcome address, Mohammad Maaz Husain (Incubation Manager, FDIEIC) said that the workshop is aimed at enhancing the leadership potential of women and provide them a platform for training and networking.

He called for attention on raising the representation of Indian Muslim women in the formal workforce, education and business.

Maaz Husain later extended the vote of thanks.
