Emmy Awards 2024: The most talented people in the country get together to celebrate the silver screen stars at the Emmys. The celebration honouring the top stars and performances draws attendees from all around the world.
The Oscars have an almost inevitable quality, particularly when a noteworthy TV show dominates its competitors. But since strikes caused the 2023 ceremony to be postponed, there will be even more competition because the eligibility window extends until June 2022.
Given that Succession, Beef, and The Bear—all nominees anticipated to win a few prizes at the Emmys—saw a slew of wins in last week’s ceremony, the Golden Globes are a strong predictor of which programmes will shine once more.
Here are some lineups on the series and people, ahead of the Emmy 2024 Awards.
The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Succession, Andor, Better Call Saul, House of the Dragon, The Crown, and Yellowjackets
The television series “Succession” is bound to appear on several lists of the best programmes ever produced. It has a large following both inside and outside of the TV Academy, and its fourth and final season, which debuted in the spring of last year, is a virtual cinch for the top Emmy.
Barry, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Jury Duty, Ted Lasso, The Magnificent Mrs Maisel, Only Murders in the Building, Wednesday
Ted Lasso has won this category the last two years, so it wouldn’t be shocking if the football series, which has 21 Emmy nominations, wins the hat trick. However, The Bear, which is running for its first season, has a distinct edge since voters were still thinking about its excellent second season when they cast their votes because it aired throughout the summer.
The Last of Us’s Bella Ramsey, The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elizabeth Moss, Bad Sisters’ Sharon Horgan, Yellowjackets’ Melanie Lynskey, The Diplomat’s Keri Russell, and Succession’s Sarah Snook
The “Succession” theme song will likely be played again during the evening, as the excellent cast is duly acknowledged.Few will envy Snook’s victory after her four seasons of superb performances in the family drama.
Critics Choice Awards 2024: Start Time, TV Channel, Platform to watch and more
Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us; Jeff Bridges, The Old Man; Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul; Brian Cox, Succession; Jeremy Strong, Succession; Kielan Culkin, Succession
Strong, who plays the main character Kendall Roy again, is one of the greatest method actors working today, even among his fellow Succession performers Cox and Culkin. He delivered a powerful performance in the finale.
Jeremy Allen White, The Bear; Bill Hader, Barry; Jason Segel, Shrinking; Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building; Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso
The Bear debuted to great acclaim over two years ago, but the Emmys have just now gotten around to recognising the first season of this show. That would undoubtedly ensure that Hollywood’s breakout star Allen White wins, even though Hader and Sudeikis gave respectable performances.
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel; Christina Applegate, Dead To Me (Netflix); Jenna Ortega, Wednesday; Natasha Lyonne, Poker Face; Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Although Brunson has previously won an Emmy for Abbott Elementary, her writing has so far only been recognised for excellence. The moment is almost here for her acting to be acknowledged equally with the grace and wit that Janine Teagues, a second-grade teacher, offers to the production.
