Real Steel 2: Netflix Revival Sparks Speculations of Sequel Release

Real Steel 2, starring Hugh Jackman, follows Charlie Kenton as he navigates a future where robot boxers replace humans and reconnects with his estranged son.

Real Steel 2: Hugh Jackman stars as Charlie Kenton, a former boxer who is down on his luck. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews upon release, but there was no sequel. When robots replace humans as boxers in the future, Charlie attempts to avoid paying off a gambling debt while simultaneously reconnecting with his estranged son.

Charlie quickly overcomes his disapproval of his child’s choice to live with his ex-girlfriend’s family as they bond over their shared interest in boxing robots. While the movie was about a deadbeat father meeting his long-lost son, boxing robots transformed real steel.

The Netflix release of Real Steel has increased its popularity, so a sequel may be possible, even though it has been 12 years since the film premiered in theatre. A re-capture of the magic would, of course, require the presence of everyone involved in the film, including actors and filmmakers.

Will they release Real Steel 2?

As Shawn Levy explained to Collider in 2022, Real Steel has not received a sequel. “I try not to make sequels that don’t deserve to be made.” Since I felt that Real Steel 2 would not match or surpass the original, I chose not to move forward.”

It is clear that despite the potential to do the same with Real Steel, the people behind the company, such as Levy, do not wish to jeopardize its reputation.

It may also be difficult to coordinate all the ingredients for a sequel since Dakota Goyo, who played Charlie’s pre-teen son, has matured and retired. To continue the plot, they would need to recast him as an adult or a child.

Disney+ announced a Real Steel series for 2022, but there has been little news since then, despite the absence of a sequel. If the series remains popular on Netflix, Disney may consider continuing it.

Real Steel 2 Teaser Trailer: Is It Real or Fake?

A teaser trailer for Real Steel 2 that is gaining popularity on YouTube is not authentic. It is a fan-made compilation of clips from Hugh Jackman’s past films.

The teaser trailer for Real Steel 2 has been posted on Foxstar Media’s channel. This is not an official trailer, so fans who want to see a sequel will have to wait.

Could there have been a Real Steel sequel?

He believes that a sequel to Real Steel is a possibility. He believes that it may become a possible world in 2021, not only a sequel to Real Steel. In Mackie’s opinion, the possibilities are endless. There has always been a desire on my part to visit the underground world and see what it is like. The underground boxing circuit is completely different from the glitter and glitz of the last fight. It seems that you could do Mad Max meets Real Steel, and I could be Tina Turner.”
