The Exorcist: Believer hails from Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with the revival of the Halloween franchise.

Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr. ; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has single-handedly nurtured their daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) since the death of his pregnant wife in the Haitian earthquake twelve years ago.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum) vanish in the woods and return three days later with no memory of what happened, it sets off a chain of events that forces Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has ever witnessed anything like it: Chris MacNeil.”

The Exorcist: A Cast of Believers

The Exorcist: Believer Cast is comprised of talented actors. In the forthcoming film, Academy Award-winning actress Ellen Burstyn will reprise her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, a famous Hollywood personality and the mother of the possessed Regan MacNeil. Burstyn’s character in the original film was a famous actress who had recently divorced her actor spouse and was living with her daughter near Georgetown while filming. Burstyn was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her exceptional performance in the original film, for which she received a nomination.

Leslie Odom Jr. (famous for his role in Hamilton) joins the cast as Victor Fielding, the father of another possessed child who seeks assistance from Chris MacNeil. Jennifer Nettles, best known for her role in The Righteous Gemstones and as a member of the country music duo Sugarland, will play the mother of yet another possessed child who partners up with Odom Jr. Norbert Leo Butz, from Fosse/Verdon, will portray the character’s spouse.

Angela and Katherine, two adolescent girls possessed by a demon, will be portrayed in the film by Lidya Jewett (known for Good Girls) and newcomer Olivia Marcum. Ann Dowd, who won an Emmy for her performance in Hereditary, will return to the horror genre with a role in the film. Although their roles are unknown, Raphael Sbarge (Once Upon a Time) and Okwui Okpokwasili (Madeline’s Madeline) have also been appointed.

Given that the original actors for Father Merrin and Father Karras have since passed away, it is uncertain whether they will be reintroduced into the plot.

Additionally, tantalising rumours indicate that Linda Blair may reprise her role as Regan MacNeil in the film. Blair was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance in the original film.

Fans are also intrigued as to whether the infamous pea soup, which was synonymous with demon vomit in the original film, will appear in the upcoming film.
