Celebrate Teen Literature Day is observed annually on the Thursday of the second full week of April, or on April 13 this year. It is a day to encourage everyone, particularly adolescents, to read. Teenagers are, as is common knowledge, reading less and less. Considering the prevalence of smartphone and social network utilisation among adolescents, it is not surprising that their focus has shifted away from books; this has been the trend for some time. Celebrate Teen Literature Day promotes the enjoyment of reading and draws attention to the decline in the number of adolescents who read for leisure.

There are few things older than literature. Literature has a lengthy history; it has shaped our current way of life and continues to do so centuries later. Literature provides the reader, listener, or observer with amusement, enlightenment, or instruction.

Due to distance barriers and the loss of many texts over the years, literature lacks a defined history; however, it has found its way back to us and is an integral component of our society. Literature must be preserved by everyone, especially adolescents.
