Christa McAuliffe Day 2024: On January 28, 2019, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu proclaimed it Christa McAuliffe Day. President Ronald Reagan introduced the Teacher in Space Project (TISP), a unique NASA initiative, in 1984. The NASA shuttle was launched on January 28, 1986, at 11:38 a.m., and it burst 73 seconds later. Later investigations found that a mechanical failure was the cause of this. Although McAuliffe and the other passengers died, their ambition endured. Because of this, the Educator Astronaut Project eventually took the place of the TISP. It required its civilian volunteers to become Astronaut Mission Specialists, experts selected as astronauts first and then assigned to a unique mission.
