Crate Day 2023: New Zealanders celebrate Crate Day on the first Saturday of December, which is kind of like a public holiday. This year, it’s on December 3. In New Zealand, sharing a bottle of beer is a unique way to celebrate the start of summer. People can enjoy the holiday in the comfort of their own homes, in parks, or on the beach. This day is often used for drinking games. The holiday has its own rules, like “You must begin at noon” and “You must wear the clothing of Crate Day, which includes singlets, stubbies, and sandals.”

Crate Day’s History

Different kinds of bottled beer have been around for hundreds of years, but glass-bottled beer didn’t even exist until glassblowing techniques improved and bottles could handle the pressure of fizzy beer without bursting. Due to the high cost of glass, it was still not the most popular beer to take home in the middle of the 1800s. The Rock radio station made Crate Day to celebrate the start of summer on the first Saturday in December. But there are some rules that you should follow. Supporting the “Crate of Origin” (or drinking beer wherever you are) is the most important thing to do on Crate Day.

Beer is one of the oldest drinks that people have ever made. In the 5th millennium B.C., the first scientifically proven barley beer was made in what is now Iran. It was written about in the histories of Egypt and Mesopotamia before it spread around the world. Wood was used to make beer boxes in the beginning. About 7,000 years ago, the first beer was made in Iran. Neolithic Europe may have had beer as early as 5,000 years ago, and most people drank it at home.

Before the Industrial Revolution, people still made and sold beer in their own homes. In fact, by the 7th century, European monks were also making and selling beer. Beer production transitioned from manual labor to machine labor during the Industrial Revolution. By the end of the 19th century, home production had stopped. There are now many big international companies in the brewing business, as well as tens of thousands of smaller breweries, from brewpubs to regional breweries.
