On September 24, 1493, following the contentious outcomes of his initial expedition, he set out on his second voyage, which involved more than 1200 soldiers dispersed across 17 ships. November 19, 1943, almost two months later, he established anchorage in a port adjacent to an island that he subsequently designated San Juan Bautista.
