Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was born in Kapadvanj, Kaira District, Bombay Presidency (Kheda district, Gujarat, India), on July 2, 1893. After completing his undergraduate studies at Bombay University, he proceeded to enroll at St. John’s College, Oxford. Having completed the Indian Civil Service examinations in 1916, he commenced an illustrious career in the civil service.
Chandulal Trivedi, the first governor of Andhra Pradesh, commenced his civil service career in the Central Provinces, where he held the positions of assistant commissioner, provincial director of industries, and registrar of cooperative societies. He held numerous positions throughout his career, including chief secretary and deputy commissioner of the Central Provinces.
The central government promoted Trivedi to the rank of additional secretary (war) during World War II. He led Odisha and East Punjab in India through difficult times as the inaugural governor following independence.
