Duffy possesses a number of records and titles, having won them consecutively. With her performance, she made Bermuda the smallest country to earn an Olympic gold medal.

Duffy’s Olympic gold medal at Tokyo was not her first time contending. Duffy is an accomplished athlete who has competed in the ITU World Triathlon Series and ITU Cross Triathlon. She has also participated in multiple XTerra World Championships and Commonwealth Games. The 2020 Olympics were not her first Olympic competition. Triathlete Duffy competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She then competed in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, where she claimed the triathlon gold medal.
Duffy represented Bermuda in every Olympic competition. Duffy entered the Tokyo Olympics as the favourite to win a medal. She discusses her realisation that the medal was greater than her, as she knew the aspirations of Bermuda rested on her shoulders. In the five years leading up to the 2020 Olympics, Duffy was under a tremendous level of pressure. Duffy competed against 56 other women and won the Olympic triathlon with a time of 1 hour, 55 minutes, and 36 seconds. Her time was over a minute faster than medalists Georgia Taylor Brown of the United Kingdom and Katie Zaferes of the United States.
