Global Talent Acquisition Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Activities

Talent acquisition is not a novel phenomenon, despite the fact that the industry has grown exponentially in recent years. This occupation has existed in various forms for thousands of years.

Annually, Global Talent Acquisition Day is observed on the first Wednesday of September. This year, September 6 is the date. This international holiday was established in 2018 by K.R.T. Marketing, a global talent acquisition firm. It recognises the contributions of talent acquisition professionals to organisations and employers worldwide. In fact, without the efforts of talent acquisition agents, many businesses would have no workforce at all. They play a crucial role in the labour market by recruiting candidates with the necessary skills and credentials. Recruiting specialists are frequently disregarded. They deserve a holiday in their honour because their work is obscure but essential.

The background of Global Talent Acquisition Day

Talent acquisition is not a novel phenomenon, despite the fact that the industry has grown exponentially in recent years. This occupation has existed in various forms for thousands of years. Throughout human history, there has always been a method for identifying and employing skilled labourers to satisfy specific needs. Historically, early forms of talent acquisition were typically administered by governments. As political advisors, military commanders, and government administrators, empires and kingdoms required qualified professionals. In ancient China, during the Song Dynasty (960 to 1279 A.D.), this was the case. In order to enter the government’s civil service, citizens were required to pass a series of examinations. These examinations were so rigorous that only one percent of candidates passed. This rigorous procedure ensured that only the most qualified Chinese citizens served in government positions.

Additionally, Greco-Roman societies engaged in talent acquisition. Both Greek and Roman societies were extremely militaristic. It was typical for the government to dispatch recruiters in search of talented soldiers and commanders for their armed forces. Julius Caesar (100–44 B.C.) was among the first to implement an employee referral system. Successful recruiters were liberally rewarded with up to one-third of their annual compensation. This encouraged the acquisition of talent, but it was not sufficient for the Roman empire. The military was promoted as a symbol of social prominence, and soldiers were tattooed. The army’s ranks grew as a result of Caesar’s talent acquisition strategies.

During World Wars I and II, there was a rise in the use of military recruitment advertisements to acquire talent. Uncle Sam’s “I Want You” poster continues to be one of the most recognisable aspects of the American war effort. The focus of contemporary talent acquisition is employment in the private sector.
