Cocolife has always advocated for black maternal health. They declared May 22 as the official International Coco Mom Day. This aligns with the organization’s mission to cultivate a Coco Community to support black and brown mothers during and after pregnancy. The day will be dedicated to elevating, honouring, and celebrating black and tawny mothers worldwide. International Coco Mom Day is the first of its kind to be celebrated.
The health and wellness of black mothers remains a significant concern for medical professionals. In fact, both American presidents Biden and Harris have expressed concern over the situation. According to United Nations reports, the global maternal mortality rate was 211 per 100,000 births. As if this wasn’t terrible enough, the maternal mortality rates in the black community frequently exceed national and state averages! The numbers are alarming, and more must be done to support women and guarantee the best possible maternal health.
Remember that the Cocolife team has championed the cause through initiatives like Coco Boxes for Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Compassionate child loss, the Coco Kid Project, and other helpful resources. Cocolife is a division of the July 2019-founded Coco Bump, L.L.C. The organisation was founded to honour pregnant women and new mothers. The objective is to assure the health of mothers throughout each stage of their lives and to eliminate racial disparities in maternal health.
