The background of International Community Association Managers Day

Community association management is a new industry that has experienced exponential expansion over the past half-century. In the 1970s, the United States had approximately 10,000 community associations but only a handful of community association administrators. The majority of those who discovered the profession came from related industries such as flat management, hospitality and tourism management, and commercial development management.

As the number of community associations around the globe increased, the pioneers of the profession recognised the need for specialised training and expertise. There are currently more than 355,000 community associations in the United States, which are home to more than 74 million Americans. Over 55,000 community association managers labour tirelessly to meet the needs and expectations of the residents and to ensure the success of the volunteer homeowners who govern the communities. In their work with community associations, community administrators with CAI designations uphold the highest ethical standards.
