Kiss a Ginger Day 2023: Date, History and all about Redheads

Kiss A Ginger Day is observed annually on January 12 to honour redheads across the globe.

Kiss a Ginger Day 2023: Red hair has always been distinctive and arresting to us all. Although many redheads are unfortunately the target of jokes and ridicule, we all adore their fiery locks. The 12th of January is Kiss A Ginger Day, and it is the ideal time to express our affection for them. We all wish we had red hair at some point, but because it occurs in only 2% of the population, we use hair dyes to achieve the colour. Contrary to popular belief, red hair is not an Irish, British, or European trait. Red hair existed in Greece and Asia, according to ancient accounts and archaeological findings. Currently, the trait is most common in northwestern Europe. Kiss a ginger while you still can, because red hair is on the decline worldwide.

WHEN IS KISS A GINGER DAY 2023?

Kiss A Ginger Day is observed annually on January 12 to honour redheads across the globe.

HISTORY OF KISS A GINGER DAY

Reds have always been associated with strength, ardour, and high vitality, much like the lovable redheads of the world. On Kiss A Ginger Day, we express our admiration for redheads who carry off their colour and personality so well! Therefore, locate your favourite ginger and kiss them.

In the past, red hair had a negative reputation. Redheads were frequently shunned or even persecuted for their association with witchcraft and the ability to overpower others’ senses. Thankfully, this myth has dissipated over time, and today we cannot get enough of alluring redheads. Red hair is currently quite fashionable, with more and more people dying their hair in striking red hues.

Despite the fact that redheads are no longer considered to be witches, there is a holiday that is not kind to them. Derek Forgie began Kiss A Ginger Day on a Facebook group in 2009 as a countermeasure, and it went viral.

To manifest, the red hair gene requires a duplicate. Even so, there is no assurance that it will occur. If both parents carry the gene, there is a 1 in 4 chance that their child will be redheaded. Blue-eyed gingers are the rarest, comprising less than one percent of the world’s population. Therefore, if you know or are a redhead, consider yourself fortunate.
