One can only imagine what a disaster it would be if some of these taglines and descriptions had to be used today. “Because innocence is sexier than you think” and “Underneath it all, she’s baby soft” accompanied by images of prepubescent girls can raise serious concerns, such as, “Where are you going with this?” In one of the television advertisements, the fragrance was characterised as “a cuddly, clean baby that grew up to be very seductive.”
Although the brand was ostensibly aimed at adult women, their pricing and marketing suggested that the intended market was young females contemplating womanhood. Brands and media have, thankfully, come a long way since then. Today, Love’s Baby Soft is a container filled with pleasant memories and a sweet scent.
