The 5th of May is Museum Lover’s Day, when museum enthusiasts celebrate their favourite location to hang out, spend time, or view a variety of artworks and exhibits.
The background of Museum Lover’s Day
There have been museums since ancient times. They are structures where objects of great historical and cultural significance are stored and displayed for the public. The first site designated a museum was discovered by archaeologists in modern Iraq, and it dates back to 500 B.C. The Museum of Alexandria, which was connected to the Library of Alexandria, is another ancient museum. Its architecture influenced museums constructed during the Renaissance.
During the Age of Enlightenment, numerous museums were established to preserve historical artefacts and pieces that contributed to the overall advancement of humanity. Universities in Europe were responsible for establishing some of the world’s most significant institutions, such as the British Museum and the Ashmolean Museum. Later, in the United States, a number of museums containing a variety of objects from around the world began to appear. Numerous controversies surround the true possession of certain objects displayed in European and American exhibitions, as many of them are from countries other than those of the museums.
Museums require a large personnel. Artists, historians, educators, and curators all contribute to the administration of a museum. These individuals are charged with preserving not only the objects on display but also the museum’s physical structure. The Blue Shield International organisation protects these environments during times of conflict and war due to the significance of the objects they contain.
