National Actdumb Day occurs annually on September 5. It is a positive means of celebrating and appreciating those who are frequently marginalised or ridiculed due to their differences. Those who participate on this day demonstrate acceptance and support for the individuality of others. It’s also a chance to demonstrate support for other people’s fun and wonderful creations! National Actdumb. Day encourages individuals to celebrate what makes others unique, from new hairstyles to unusual sports, without mocking or condemning others based on their differences.

Actdumb proposed the day as a May 2020 holiday as a counterpoint to the media’s growing insensitivity towards those with mental disabilities. Actdumb. feared that they would be suppressed or ridiculed once more, and believed they deserved better. On paper, this may not appear to be a national holiday, but it has been observed for years. Many of us would wonder how we went from celebrating the holiday to discussing its historical origins. It is fairly straightforward. When one examines the history of people with disabilities and how they have been regarded throughout time, the results are depressing and disheartening.
People who manifested signs of a disability were labelled as insane during colonial times. After that, people with disabilities were shunned because it was believed they were incapable of performing certain tasks and therefore needed to be isolated from society. In recent years, however, instead of segregating them and placing them in institutions, the community has decided to make light of those with disabilities and treat them as if they are subhuman.
There is discrimination in all spheres of society, including education, housing, and employment.
Discrimination is defined as the mistreatment of someone based on their membership in a particular group or category, such as race, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, and it occurs all over the world.
Discrimination is frequently stressful, and as stress levels rise, the body becomes more susceptible to disease.
According to a survey of over one million employees, women earn 79% less than men for equal labour.
Despite being widespread across the globe, discrimination is illegal in nearly all nations.
