National Chicken Lady Day 2023: At first glance, November 4’s National Chicken Lady Day seems to be a food-related holiday or a witty tribute to the role Mark McKinney played in “The Kids in the Hall.” However, it has little to do with either of those subjects. (It’s somewhat associated with poultry.) National Chicken Lady Day is observed in commemoration of motivational speaker and businesswoman Dr. Marthenia “Tina” Dupree. The convergence of Dupree’s motivational narrative and accomplished business acumen facilitated a summit with President George W. Bush. The purpose of National Chicken Lady Day is to recognize Dupree’s community-wide endeavors to improve educational standards.
Dupree served as the Director of Community Relations and Training for the second largest chicken restaurant chain in the world for twelve years. Due to her active participation in the community, she has affectionately adopted the moniker “The Chicken Lady.”
