National Crime Junkie Day 2023: Are you crazy about true crime? Good for you! You’ve found both a vacation and other people who like crime. It all began with an idea and a goal that led to the creation of Crime Junkie, the best true crime podcast in the world. December 18 is National Crime Junkie Day.
Ashley Flowers made her own true crime show in 2017 because she couldn’t find one anywhere else. Crime Junkie was created to share unique stories and make a difference in the true crime community. Since then, there has been a new episode of true crime material with an advocacy focus every Monday.
The idea for Crime Junkie grew into a movement with Ashley’s co-host and best friend Brit and her beloved dog Chuck by her side. Crime Junkie is the most popular true-crime podcast in the world, having been listened to over 1 billion times in just five years. You can watch more than 450 shows, and every step of the way—from researching to writing to production—is meant to turn the world of true crime on its head.
Also, the effect has grown over the past five years, thanks to all the great crime junkies. Through bringing attention to cases that aren’t covered enough, getting hundreds of thousands of people to sign petitions, and giving money to over 100 non-profits, the Crime Junkie community has reached a huge audience and fought for those who need it the most.
