The background of National Day of Praise and Worship

Christian worship music (C.W.M. ), also referred to as praise and worship music, is a genre of Christian music used in contemporary liturgy. In the early 1950s, the Taizé Community in France began to attract adolescents from various religious denominations with its contemporary hymns. Christian Unions in university settings provided their members with evangelistic speeches and biblical education by the middle of the 20th century. Additionally, Christian cafés with evangelistic goals opened and church youth organizations were established.

By adopting modern music practices, the Bible, through Christian melodies, communicated that Christianity was neither obsolete nor insignificant. The Joystrings were among the earliest Christian pop bands to perform Christian rhythm music on television. Some of these tunes and styles have been adopted by churches for worship services. In 1966, the Jubilate Group released Youth Praise, one of the earliest and most renowned collections of these praise compositions.

In the early 1990s, numerous churches adopted hymns such as “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” and “Shine, Jesus, Shine.” Prior to the late 1990s, many individuals believed that Sunday mornings were designated for hymns and that young people could listen to their music on the other six days. Contemporary Christian music started to incorporate modern devotional music. Recently, songs have been displayed on church displays. In the last 25 years, Vineyard Music, Hillsong Worship, Bethel Music, and others have aided to spread C.W.M.
