National DTC (Direct-To-Consumer) Friday

National DTC (Direct-To-Consumer) Friday 2023: National Direct-To-Consumer Friday, or National DTC Friday, occurs annually in the United States precisely two weeks prior to Black Friday. It occurs this year on November 10. This day is the inaugural national purchasing holiday honoring and empowering the direct-to-consumer movement, a business model that eliminates intermediaries and links service providers and product sellers with their customers in a manner that is considerably more streamlined and expedient. The day immediately preceding Black Friday was selected to support and advance the D.T.C. community while also spreading awareness about it, given that consumers are susceptible to confusion when deciding which product to purchase and there are numerous alternatives available.

National DTC (Direct-To-Consumer) Friday 2023: History

The introduction of ‘digital native’ brands, including Bonobos and Warby Parker, in the late 2000s, more than a decade ago, irrevocably altered the conventional retail model. Over two-thirds of consumers today expect brands to provide direct connectivity. Successful enterprises must prioritize the establishment of enduring consumer relationships. This is particularly true in a world where 40% of consumers made purchases from direct-to-consumer (DTC) companies in 2019.

However, contrary to popular belief, the origins of D.T.C. can be traced back to the late 1700s, when technological and transportation advancements reduced the need for freight and people consumed locally due to geographical advantages. Although its objective was to increase profits for farmers and manufacturers while decreasing prices for consumers, D.T.C. did not gain widespread acceptance until the late 1990s, primarily due to its implementation by online retailers in response to the expansion of the Internet.

Regardless of the cost, consumers cherished the intimate relationships they fostered with product manufacturers and the exclusive experience they received. It is for this reason that common people allegedly founded National Direct-To-Consumer Friday to find solutions to common problems. Since D.T.C. firms have assumed the responsibility of producing, distributing, and advertising their goods out of a desire to discover improved methods, they merit recognition and admiration.
