National Get Up Day 2024: Everybody trips and falls. What counts is how we get out of bed. That is the idea behind February 1st’s National Get Up Day. U.S. Figure Skating developed this motivational campaign in 2016. The USFSA states that “Get Up is about being fearless in the face of falling.” Like figure skaters, we all have our moments of falling. Rebounding is the hard part. National Get-Up Day celebrates this resolve. Prepare to recognize those who have been there, celebrate your own Get Up moments, and encourage others to follow in your footsteps.
The US Figure Skating Association created a campaign with the theme “We all fall” in 2016, which is when this day first came to be. What counts is how we get out of bed. The following year, National Get Up Day spread to the broader public and ingrained itself into the figure skating community. In 2018, National Get Up Day was becoming more and more popular, and it was even observed right before the South Korean Winter Games.
One possible source of inspiration for the Get Up campaign’s theme was the well-known American figure skater and 1984 Olympic Gold medallist Scott Hamilton. Hamilton once said in an interview that he had counted the number of times he had fallen while skating, and the result was about 41,600. The most amazing part, though, is that this number also indicates that Hamilton stood up 41,600 times. In addition, he has survived cancer four times, which must be far harder to recover from than just a simple ice skating fall.
Since National Get Up Day is observed amid the bleak and chilly months of winter, it can serve as a helpful reminder to people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or the winter blues that it’s important to simply get back up whenever things are going down!
It may be any instance in which you felt like a failure, yet you persisted instead of giving up. Make sure to include the hashtag #GetUpDay in any social media posts you make about your experiences.
Make sure you encourage those in your life to keep going, whether that’s through social media posts, planning an event, or reaching out to pals who might use a little pick-me-up.
It’s the ideal method to commemorate. Just keep in mind that it’s okay to fall; just get back up and try again!

Thank Your Mentor Day 2024: Date, History and ways to Appreciate
U.S. Figure Skating established National Get Up Day, but the general concept applies to all facets of life. Just lost your job? Put on a brave face and get to work looking for a new position. FAIL a school exam? Move on and put forth more effort in your studies for the next one.
People throughout the world are motivated to embrace a more optimistic mindset when confronting life’s challenges because of the abundance of Get Up stories available.
It serves as a reminder that errors, setbacks, and depressing times occur to everyone. After all, everyone is human, even the supposedly flawless skaters we watch on TV. Still, what matters most is how you handle these setbacks and move on.
