He bandaged the man’s wounds, placed him on his donkey, and transported him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day, the Samaritan paid the innkeeper and asked him to care for the injured man, promising to cover any additional expenses. Jesus concluded his discourse by urging his listeners to “go and do the same.”
This holiday commemorates the tragic death of Catherine Genovese, who was assassinated in New York City on March 13, 1964. Catherine might have survived the attack had someone intervened. National Good Samaritan Day serves as a reminder to assist others whenever possible.
