National Help an equine Day is on April 26, and we are raising awareness about the importance of equine care. The United States places a high value on horses, and this day aims to encourage people to band together and protect these cherished animals from abuse.
The background of National Help A Horse Day
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) initiated a Help a Horse Day campaign in 2013 to raise awareness and promote the protection of neglected and abused horses across the country.
National Help a Horse Day serves multiple functions. This day is also a national day of recognition for equine organisations to highlight the work they do to save horses in peril. In addition, it demonstrates how individuals can join them in making a difference in the equine community.
Thousands of horses are neglected and abandoned across the nation. Although sanctuaries and shelters work around the clock to care for animals, they still require sufficient funding to sustain their efforts. Thus, since the inception of National Help a Horse Day, numerous programmes have been and continue to be developed to improve the lives of horses.
