This year, National Interpreter Appreciation Day is observed on May 3. It occurs annually on the first Wednesday of May. There are approximately 6,500 languages in the globe, making it impossible for one person to master them all. A rare individual who can communicate more than five languages is known as a polyglot. Thus, interpreters are required in government offices, hospitals, businesses, and any other organisation that will interact with individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds or when sign language is required. Interpreters rarely have an easy time. They must keep up with the communicators and ensure that they transmit information that is plain and concise in real time.

The background of National Interpreter Appreciation Day

Language is a complex yet straightforward method of communication. The majority of organisms in an ecosystem will be able to communicate with their own kind and occasionally with other species. Humans are not unique.

We have the most sophisticated and effective form of communication on the planet. Humans began using language approximately 50,000 years ago. Sign language was likely used by ancient humans to communicate. The modern iteration, however, was created around the 17th century.
