National Lover's Day demonstrates that there is no such thing as an excess of affection. This holiday occurs after the more well-known Valentine's Day and just before Global Love Day, which is observed on May 1.

The 23rd of April is National Lover’s Day, which gives us a second chance at love. There are numerous days dedicated to expressing affection throughout the year. If you missed Valentine’s Day, you can make amends on Lover’s Day, which is dedicated to celebrating your affection for your significant other. Saint George’s Day, which falls on the same day and is celebrated throughout Europe, is said to have been the inspiration for this holiday.

The background of National Lover’s Day

National Lover’s Day demonstrates that there is no such thing as an excess of affection. This holiday occurs after the more well-known Valentine’s Day and just before Global Love Day, which is observed on May 1. It is another occasion to shower your significant other with gifts of affection.

Although there is no definitive origin and no detailed history of the day, some believe it originated from Saint George’s Day, which is celebrated on the same day, April 23. In Europe, Saint George’s Day is commemorated by recognising both love and literature. Saint George, in whose honour the day is named, received this official recognition from the Christian Church for his pious life. He perished on April 23, 303 A.D.

On April 23, both William Shakespeare and Josep Pla passed away. In the Spanish region of Catalonia, it is commonly referred to as “El Dia de La Rosa” or “El Dia del Libre” (The Day of the Book).

‘Dia dos Namorados,’ which is Brazil’s Lover’s Day, occurs on June 12 and is also celebrated by giving gifts and participating in romantic activities, such as going on a date.
