They range in size from Pennsylvania’s Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial, which covers only.02 acres, to Alaska’s Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, which covers a vast 13.2 million acres. The National Park Service employs 22,000 individuals in permanent, temporary, and seasonal positions. Additionally, an additional 340,000 volunteers are registered with the service. These sites receive nearly 300 million visitors annually.
