National Accounts Each year, Medicare Advantage Fraud Day is observed on September 12. The Hesch Firm, LLC, has created a website dedicated to educating Americans about the various types of Medicare fraud and providing them with the tools necessary to detect and report these forgeries. This day has a dual purpose: to assist whistleblowers in following the correct protocol to ensure that the government investigates the fraud, and to recognise whistleblowers for their service. At least once in our lives, each of us will encounter some form of deception. Particularly in the United States, 10 percent of Medicare funds are lost to fraud. In reality, that is a significant quantity of money (approximately $65 billion annually), precipitating a healthcare crisis in the United States!
National Accounts Medicare Fraud Day was established by The Hesch Firm, LLC in 2017. Joel D. Hesch, the founding attorney, worked in the DOJ’s whistleblower reward division for more than 15 years. He now exclusively represents whistleblowers in filing cases and reporting instances of misconduct across the nation.
Joel D. Hesch penned a free e-book and designed a website to ensure that everyone understands how to properly report Medicare fraud and take the necessary steps to be eligible for a reward, in order to assist whistleblowers. Medicare fraud can be reported in two distinct methods, with very different outcomes for each. The first is to tip the whistle under the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) reward programme, which pays between 15% and 25% of the amount recovered by the DOJ. The average DOJ reward for Medicare fraud reporting is $690,000. While some have claimed rewards of $150 million or more. If you report fraud under a DOJ programme, the government is obligated to launch an investigation and keep you informed of its progress. Presently, three-quarters of the government’s Medicare fraud reward cases involve DOJ whistleblowers. Thus, the government relies on whistleblowers to bring Medicare fraud cases to its attention in exchange for a reward. Medicare misconduct can also be reported directly to the Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The CMS administers the Medicare programme. The CMS can receive reports of fraud through its website or hotline.
