Unbeknownst to you, dog treats were inadvertently created. A London-based butcher attempted to grow his business in 1880 by creating a new biscuit recipe for his clientele to appreciate. Sadly, the final product was so foul in flavor that he was unable to consume it. Instead of allowing it to be wasted, he presented it to his dog. Do you know what? The canine adored it. Eventually, the shop proprietor implemented the notion that he could make dog treats by baking. As soon as he began forming the biscuits into bones using the identical formula, they began to sell out rapidly. An American businessman acquired his formulation in 1908 and subsequently introduced it to the country.
The F.H. Bennett Biscuit Company was the first to manufacture and produce dog treats in the United States. The formulation was patented in 1911 and adopted the name Milk-Bone® in 1915, an allusion to its ingredient, cow’s milk.
Upon acquiring the Milk-Bone® brand in the 1960s, Nabisco Biscuit Company quickly came to dominate the market. It was marketed not only as a delectable delight for your pets but also as providing your dog with fresher breath and healthier teeth. In the 1970s, numerous companies began manufacturing their own branded dog treats, resulting in an immediate increase in competition.
Dr. Marty Pets did not establish National Treat Your Pet Day until October 30, 2021. It was a day devoted to showing your pets extra affection and care by providing them with gifts. This is also observed near Halloween, so it serves as the trick-or-treat occasion for your companion.
