On March 29, we honour those who fought in the Vietnam War as part of National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Without a doubt, the Vietnam War was among the most ruthless. During the years of combat, there were over three million casualties in the Vietnam War. National Vietnam War Veterans Day was established to honour all Vietnam veterans who fought during the Second Indochina War, which was known to Americans as the Second Indochina War. Considering the war’s protracted duration and brutality, National Vietnam War Veterans Day was created to commemorate the service of all Vietnam veterans.

As a result of the number of casualties, respect and combat support were not promptly given to those who served after the war ended; therefore, the day was created in 2017 to finally offer this respect to everyone involved.
U.S. Senators Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., introduced legislation proposing the anniversary of the withdrawal of military elements from South Vietnam as the date, recognising that soldiers did not choose to go to war. President Donald Trump signed the Act on March 29 mandating that U.S. flags be flown on this day to honour all who served during the Vietnam War, regardless of location.
Since its inception in 2017, this national day has been celebrated annually on March 29. In addition to commemorating those who fought, four other aspects of this day are to be highlighted: the service of the Armed Forces and support organisations during the war; the contributions made at home during the war; the advancements in technology, science, and medicine; and the contributions made by American allies.
