Help the women in your life by letting them know today that you’ll be there for them even when no one else is.

What National Women Support Women Day Is All About

For too long, too many women have lived alone their whole lives, which means they were left to take care of themselves. This day was made to tell women that they are not alone in their problems and that other women are here to help them.

In the United States, December 1 has long been known as a day for women to enjoy themselves and each other. On February 28, 1909, 15,000 women marched through New York City to demand shorter hours and better pay. This was the first International Women’s Day. They marched again in 1911, this time to demand the right to vote and an end to abuse against women. Every year, women still march in places around the world to fight for justice, equality, and peace for everyone, no matter their race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.

Since 1975, the UN General Assembly has celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8. In 2014, it was made an official holiday in almost 100 countries around the world. Amy O’Donnell made National Women Support Women’s Day in 2018 because she wanted to show appreciation for powerful women who have made a difference in the arts, politics, business, and other areas. It was picked to happen on the same day as National Woman’s Day, which has been celebrated since February 28, 1909.

Why National Day To Support Women Is Important

It supports giving women more power.

Today is a chance to bring attention to problems that affect women. Like violence against women, discrimination against women, and sexual harassment at work. It also lets us show our support for them by giving them money or our emotional support.

It honors the accomplishments of women.

It’s easy to forget that women have made big steps forward in many areas, such as science and politics. We should honor their accomplishments by recognizing how they’ve helped make our world a better place.

Now is a great time to show support.

Women gather on this day to celebrate their successes and show appreciation for each other. Now there is no more room for the sexist idea that women are jealous and envious of each other. Now is the time for women to support, raise, and cheer each other on when things get tough.
