National Working Mom’s day 2023: Date, History, Significance

Working Mothers of Milwaukee was established in December 2017 by a local mother in need of additional assistance.

National Working Mothers Day is annually observed on March 12. Mother’s Day honours all mothers who labour for their children, including teachers, doctors, accountants, cashiers, and yes, housewives and homemakers. They are all employed and serve as role models. In addition to their paid employment, mothers frequently serve as substitute instructors, first responders, cooks, and cleaners. Inspiring by the Working Moms of Milwaukee organisation, we support their enterprises, acknowledge everything they do, and express how much it means to us on this day.

The background of National Working Mom’s day

Working Mothers of Milwaukee was established in December 2017 by a local mother in need of additional assistance. After speaking with other working moms, she realised that there was a need for a local organisation that combined several core elements: mothers in Milwaukee who work full-time, part-time, inside the home, or outside the home; networking with other moms from different backgrounds, fields, and professions, to make it easy to network online and in person; socialising in time frames that work for busy families; and appealing events that celebrate Milwaukee and its culture.

Each year, a group of mothers convenes to discuss community issues pertinent to mothers. In 2020, they recognised the need for a larger-scale celebration and recognition of working mothers, so they decided to establish their own event.

In 2022, in response to the interest they received in Milwaukee, Working Mothers have decided to expand the celebration and resources to the entire nation. They gave away more than $1,000 in giveaways and prizes, received media coverage from Yahoo.com and Journal Sentinel, received tweets from personalities such as Jane Pauly, received 5,400 views on #workingmomsday content on TikTok, and held a celebration with over 60 local mothers.
