In addition to producing its own feature films, Nickelodeon occasionally acquires theatrically-released films for broadcast. In 2002, Nickelodeon and Mattel entered into a long-term broadcasting agreement to air films and specials based on Mattel’s “Barbie” figurines. The first Barbie movie to air on Nickelodeon was “Barbie as Rapunzel” on November 24, 2002.
