The Treaty of Paris, which handed Philippine authority from Spain to the United States, marked the end of the Spanish-American War and Spain’s defeat. Between 1899 and 1902, the United States and Filipino rebels fought the Philippine-American War until the United States eventually put an end to the uprising.
