Throughout the film, Pinocchio attempts to become a real boy by demonstrating courage, honesty, and selflessness. During this quest, he encounters many unsavoury characters, guided by Jiminy Cricket. The film explores morality, social conformity, discipline, and maturation.
The film received rave reviews following its release. It won both the Best Original Song and Best Original Score Academy Awards. It is the first time a Disney movie has won in either category. On July 16, 1985, “Pinocchio” was released for home viewing in North America and quickly became the year’s best-selling home video. In 1988, it was released on VHS in the United Kingdom.
