Every year on March 21, “Harry Potter” enthusiasts celebrate Slytherin Pride Day. It is a day to appreciate one of the most captivating stories of our time. Slytherin is one of four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as depicted in the “Harry Potter” series. On Slytherin Pride Day, the house and its occasionally eccentric values are celebrated. If you want to celebrate in style, check out our Harry Potter fan gift guide.
The background of Slytherin Pride Day
Slytherins are renowned for being ambitious, intelligent, cunning, and effective leaders. They also possess strong instincts for self-preservation. This indicates that Slytherins prefer to deliberate before acting, considering all potential risks prior to making a decision. Salazar Slytherin, one of the founding members of Hogwarts, founded Slytherin House. Salazar requested that the Sorting Hat select students with a few specific qualities that he valued the most. These traits include cunning, inventiveness, and an abundance of ambition.
Students in Slytherin establish cliques, and many of them rise to leadership positions, demonstrating the ambitious nature of the house. The Crew of Draco Malfoy and the Death Eaters of Lord Voldemort are two examples. The Sorting Hat stated that it considers the founder’s preference for pure-blood students when sorting students into their respective houses. Even though all students are permitted to enter Slytherin, Muggle-born Slytherins are uncommon.
The house’s symbol is a snake, and its hues are silver and green. Both Horace Slughorn and Severus Snape were prominent house leaders, with Horace Slughorn serving twice. (first in 1981 and then again from 1997 until 2016). The Bloody Baron is the patron spirit of the house. Despite extensive investigation, the origins of this celebration remain unknown. However, it is not surprising that admirers of the series would take the time to honor one of the most renowned houses. That justifies our celebration of Slytherin Pride Day today.
