Five miles south of the Canadian border and twelve miles west of the state line, Twin Peaks is entered. I have never before witnessed so many trees. According to W.C. Fields, “I’d rather be here than in Philadelphia.” He dictates the preceding into his always-present microcassette recorder for his distant assistant Diane to transcribe in the future.

Despite being cancelled by ABC two seasons after a very strong debut due to declining ratings, Twin Peaks had a significant impact on what followed.
