Wellington Anniversary Day 2024:Wellington Anniversary Day is celebrated every Monday after January 22nd. This wonderful province has so much to offer, from its amazing people to its rich cultural heritage, that Wellington is regarded as New Zealand’s culinary capital.
Many modern cultures have their roots in the expeditions of their ancestors, who sought out the ideal location and terrain for their families’ needs-security, food, shelter, and ideal atmospheric conditions—before settling down. At various points in history, different people settled on the land that is now known as Wellington. In honor of Kupe, Tara dubbed the region “the Great Harbor of Tara” in the tenth century.
Wellington Anniversary Day commemorates the entry of the first European settlers and the following colonization of the areas that made up Wellington today. After arriving in the area in 1840 on the ship “Aurora,” the settlers gave the New Zealand government authority over the whole area. They commemorated Wellington Anniversary Day every year after they marked the first year following their landing with a ceremony.
