Bank Holidays in May 2022: During the month of May, banks will be closed for 12 days. Every year, the Reserve Bank of India releases a list of bank holidays. So, if you’re going to the bank in May for payment transactions or other banking-related activity, then you must go through the holiday list first.

Banks will be closed for three consecutive days at the start of the month in May. The month of May is full of festivals. The first week of May will witness Bhagwan Shree Parshuram Jayanti, Ramjan-Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr), Basava Jayanti, and Akshaya Tritiya. The second week will witness a holiday on the occasion of Guru Rabindranath Jayanti. In the third and the fourth week, a few states will have a bank holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birthday.

Bank customers are advised that not all banks will be closed for all 12 days in all states or regions of the country, as holidays and festivals vary from state to state.

May 1: First Sunday of the month and Maharashtra Day

May 2: Banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Ramjan-Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr)

May 3: Except for Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Bhagvan Shree Parshuram Jayanti, Ramjan-Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr), Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya

May 8: Second Sunday of the month

May 9: Banks will remain closed in West Bengal on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

May 14: Second Saturday of the month

May 15: Third Sunday of the month

May 16: On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, banks will remain shut in Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar

May 22: Fourth Sunday of the month

May 24: Banks will only remain shut in Tripura on the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam

May 28: Fourth Saturday of the month

May 29: Fifth Sunday of the month
