Goa Statehood Day Wishes, Greetings, Quotes, Messages

"Goa Liberation Day will continue to remind us of the significance of liberation for any individual or nation. Happy Goa Independence Day!"

Goa Statehood Day: On August 15, 1947, when India achieved independence, Goa had been under Portuguese control for roughly 450 years. Even after India achieved independence from the British, the Portuguese maintained their control over Goa and other Indian territories at this time.

The Day commemorates the day the state was ultimately liberated from Portuguese rule. Panaji is the capital of the state of Goa, which is bordered by Maharashtra and Karnataka. In 1987, after being freed from Portuguese rule, it joined India and was granted statehood by the government.
