Hassan Airport Inauguration update: Hassan Airport, greenfield airport project under construction, is one of the upcoming airports in Karnataka. Once thrown open to the public, the airport will serve the people of Karnataka. It will function as an alternative to other airports in the state.

Hassan Airport inauguration date and construction cost

According to Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna, the construction of Hassan Airport will complete by December this year. The construction cost of Hassan Airport is Rs 200 crore. While over 70 per cent of works, including the runway, have been completed, the state government is committed to complete ongoing projects in a phased manner.

Is Hassan Airport operational?

According to reports, the project is planned for opening in 2023. While the airport will feature a new passenger terminal building, aircraft apron, singular 2.8 km and 300m wide runway and car parking facilities, it’s designed to operate small ATR-72-600 type aircraft and will be able to handle about 200 peak hour passengers.

The minimum essential specifications for proposed airport include Runway, Parallel Taxiway, ATC Tower, Terminal Facilities, Car Parking, Aircraft Maintenance, Air Cargo, Standard Fire Station, Fuel station, General Aviation, Drainage System, STP and Meteorological Station, etc. In addition to the airport technical and allied necessaries, the Karnataka government has agreed to establish and provide necessary external infrastructures such as land, water, power, telecommunication, approach roads, sewage and solid waste management facilities before commissioning of the airport.
