Heroes of Middle-earth Release Date: ‘Lord of the Rings’

On May 10th, EA will release Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, a free-to-play mobile adaptation of the LOTR franchise and the first installment in the series since The Lord of the Rings: Conquest in 2009. In addition, the first official teaser featuring gameplay footage, menus, and more was shown. Embracer is currently developing a total of five Lord of the Rings games, with the highly anticipated Lord of the Rings: Gollum set to release shortly.

EA describes the trailer’s art style as “stylized realism,” and it features characters from the LOTR canon such as hobbits, orcs, elves, and wizards. In addition, the company claimed that the game would make Middle-earth “more inclusive and diverse” while demonstrating Narrative, PVP, and other game modes. Heroes of Middle-earth, which includes characters from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, includes collection systems, turn-based combat, and other features.

According to a recent press release by EA, the game will allow players to experience “iconic stories from the realm of Tolkien and fight against the great evils of Middle-earth.” Due to the free-to-play business model, in-game purchases are possible. Heroes of Middle-earth is now available for pre-registration ahead of its May 10 release on iOS and Android. In addition to Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which will be released on consoles and PC on May 25th, Embracer reportedly has three more titles planned for release over the next two years.
