According to a report by the PIB, approximately 1,800 distinguished visitors from across the nation will attend the Independence Day flag-raising ceremony at the Red Fort in New Delhi.

Later in the evening, Rashtrapati Bhawan will host the At Home reception. In addition to the usual protocol invitees, there will be a variety of attendees at the event. Some of the guests who may receive an invitation include frontline health workers, experts in various disciplines, and researchers/innovators.

In addition to the festivity, this Independence Day will honour the country’s martyrs through the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this campaign during his 103rd Mann Ki Baat radio session on 30 July. The campaign will be observed between 9 and 15 August. The purpose of the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign is to honour India’s bravery. It will be part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ festival, which honours the nation’s liberation fighters.

There will be various activities associated with the campaign, such as the “Amrit Kalash Yatra,” in which plants and soil from various regions of the country will be transported in containers. This sediment will be used to construct a ‘Amrit Vatika’ in close proximity to the National War Memorial.
