ChatGPT down: Today on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, tons of people who use ChatGPT are facing problems as the service stopped working properly. Around 5:30 a.m users started noticing issues, and by 6:44 a.m. a website called DownDetector had 705 reports of trouble. Earlier, at 5:37 p.m. the number spiked to 1,127 reports.
Most complaints, about 93%, were about ChatGPT itself, while 7% were about the app not working right. People trying to use ChatGPT saw an error message saying “Too many concurrent requests.” This means too many people were trying to use it at once, overwhelming the system.
Not just ChatGPT, but other OpenAI tools like Sora and Codex also stopped working for many users, causing frustration for students, workers, and others who rely on it.

The outage hit hard for people who depend on ChatGPT for school or work. A UK student named Jack shared his struggle, saying, “I have tested all models of GPT, as well as Sora and Codex. None of them are working on my end. I might get lucky with 1/2 prompts before I get errors. I have college work due in less than 2 hours and I need ChatGPT to help as I am 100% failing if it doesn’t get done.”

They figured out what’s causing the errors but haven’t shared exactly what went wrong. They’re working hard to fix it but there’s no clear time for when ChatGPT will be back to normal.

This global outage is a big deal because so many people use ChatGPT every day. DownDetector showed reports from places like the US, UK, and India, with hundreds of users unable to get responses or seeing slow performance.
Some got error messages like “Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong” or “A network error occurred.” OpenAI’s team is still investigating, and while the number of complaints dropped a bit by late morning, many users still can’t use the service properly.
