Jewar International Airport inauguration update: Jewar International Airport, also known as Noida International Airport, is one of the upcoming international airports in Uttar Pradesh. Once thrown open to the public, the this will serve the people of National Capital Region. It will function as an alternative to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
It is expected to see its inauguration in September 2024. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government, in a notification issued recently, mentioned that a ‘social impact assessment’ (SIA) will be conducted for the acquisition of an additional 2,053 hectares of land for the third phase expansion.
The construction is being carried out in four phases.
The first phase comprises the development of the Terminal 1 Building, Air Traffic Control System, Cargo Facility, Runway, metro and high-speed rail stations, as well as a few commercial developments.
The second phase comprises the development of Terminal 2 and a parallel taxiway with a new runway as part of the Noida International Airport’s construction plan.
The third phase of the Noida International Airport Construction Plan entails the construction of Terminal 3 along with the second taxiway and three rapid departure taxiways. Phase 3 also includes the construction of 37 additional berths with apron expansion.
The third phase of the Jewar Airport Master Plan comprises the expansion of the cargo terminal and the construction of Terminal 4 and three exit taxiways.

Jewar International Airport will connect multiple cities in and around the National Capital Region. These locations include are Agra, Mathura, Gurugram and Faridabad, among others.
According to the Topographical survey, the majority of the airport site land is cultivable.
While the terrain is almost flat with an elevation of 200 meters above mean sea level (AMSL), it is
about 30 meters above the bed level of the Yamuna River. It should be mentioned that the site is also away from the flood
prone areas of Yamuna River.
According to the OLS survey, three removable objects, an overhead water tank, a mobile tower and
a brick kiln chimney protrude the surface.
The Geo-technical survey pointed out that the project area site is currently under agricultural use (hinting
that the soil is of alluvial nature). However, the soil ranges from sand to stiff clays. including all
combination of two extreme litho units. Locally these are called Bhur and Matiar.
